Eligibility Requirements
Students must have a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and be able to work in small groups, transitioning between school and community activities. Students must have exited high school and have no aggressive or violent behavior. Enrollment requires an application, a scheduled meet-and-greet, a one-day program shadowing, and approval by TFNC Board of Directors.
- Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)/Exceptions are made based on ISCS school setting in high school
- Student must be 17 or older to participate in summer session while still attending high school
- Student must have exited high school to be able to participate in program full time
- Ability to work within a small group and to transition between school and community activities
- Students with aggressive or violent behavior are not permitted
- Motivated to work hard
- Family network committed to working with the program
Curriculum
Our curriculum is guided by self-determination and focuses on generalizing skills in various life settings, including:
- Transition planning
- Educational and vocational training and experiences
- Supported education in vocational courses and internship participation
- Assistance in training and support during classes and internships
- Management and organizational strategies
- Self-advocacy and determination
- Assistive technology
- Problem solving skill
- Developing age-appropriate recreation and leisure pursuits
- Social cognition-understanding the interaction of individuals and group
- Self-awareness and social skills/communication
- Non-verbal social cognitive functions- abilities that do not entail oral language
- Flexibility to adapt to change
- Work ethic
- Industry-driven work skills acquisition support
- Developing friendships with other people of similar age
Tuition and Other Financial Resources
$25/hour
- Courses: 3 courses or less per session
- Attendance: Depending on course scheduling/preferences
Students who are approved through Vocational Rehabilitation, can receive financial assistance to pay for TFNC postsecondary services with academic and job readiness skills.
We are seeking out grants and donations to help support our nonprofit organization. Contingent on available funds, educational services in and out of the classroom will be provided to students who otherwise would not have the financial means to fulfill their educational goals. Once application is completed, the Board will review information and make a decision based on available funds.

Enrollment Process
Step one: Meet and Greet (30 minutes)
- Tour CFCC
- Review program/area of interest
- Complete application process. All documents such as IEP and most recent psychological evaluation on enrollment checklist must be completed before Board review.
Step two: Student joins TFNC for one day
- Works with group
- Participates in daily tasks
- Talks with staff about self-determination for post-secondary goal
Step three: Board Review
- Approve enrollment
- Deny enrollment
- Approve based on availability (wait-listed)
Enrollment checklist:
- Student Information Form
- Photo Release Form
- Mutual Exchange of information if applicable
- Most recent psychological to determine inclusion criteria
- Exit IEP
- Residency Determination Service: This is a requirement to enroll in curriculum classes.
- Placement Test if looking to participate in all curriculum classes.
- Recommendation from Teacher: based on behavioral and academic needs
- Decisions based on the Board
